Recognized S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety Instructors

This list is for the information of people who wish to take S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety training from a BC Forest Service recognized instructor. Names and locations are listed below, you can find contact information in your phone book or online directory. S-100 training may also be available through a local post-secondary institution.

The BC Forest Service Wildfire Management Branch recognizes Basic Fire Suppression and Safety (S-100) training only when delivered by a BCFS-endorsed instructor, and only when the S-100 curriculum is delivered in the approved format.

S-100 training will be delivered over two full days: one day in the classroom (theory), and one day in the field (practical exercise).

For logistical and operational reasons, the BC Forest Service Wildfire Management Branch does not hire individual emergency fire fighters. Instead, anyone possessing a valid S-100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety certification is encouraged to contact local fire suppression contract crew companies for possible employment opportunities. A list of companies can be found in your Yellow Pages under the heading Forestry Contractors or Foresters Consulting.
