When fires burn for extended periods, or where the work load is heavy, we may call upon specialized fire support teams including fire management teams and information teams. Information Teams handle media, public, and community relations.
The two member I-Team takes direction from the Incident Commander with support from the Fire Centre. They assess fire information requirements, carry out fire information operations, and train local staff to support information activities.
An I-Team can be assigned to a single fire, or to a Fire Centre during multiple-fire situations. The Fire Centre contacts the PFCO with a request to mobilize an I Team. The Fire Centre spokesperson works with the I Team.
Information duties are given back to the Fire Centre when activities return to normal levels.
